Another word that really annoys me. Studying, or the process of learning something through the revision or reading of notes to increase knowledge on a specific subject. This is a random subject compared to my other blog posts, but I felt that I should talk about something more important this time around. Studying is like practicing for a sport, you can do it for years, but if your not doing it in the correct manner, it will only make things worse. I have, unfortunately, learned this the hard way.
I won't go into any details, as I'd like to keep the issue open to everyone, but I have had a very bad experience with some incorrect studying in another one of my academic classes. As many of my friends may know, I take pride in my effort and efficiency towards my school work, however high school is entirely different ball game. I study for every test, no matter how big or small, and for the most part I have been very successful in my academics throughout my life. Here is a short story:
"On one of my past test's, I was a little lazy in my studying and I did not do so well. I almost see this as a good thing, however, as it was a very crucial wake-up call. On the next test I had I studied very hard and really tried to improve that nasty grade from before. I re-wrote notes, had my dad question me, and even read out of an old text book. However, I did not do so well, once again.
I was quite irritated with this second grade, as I had felt that I had done all of the right things in order to improve. I revised the test, and I had realized a heart sinking fact - I had studied the previous unit and not this one.
As I quickly feared this may turn into a snowball effect creating a quite depressing year of science for me, I needed to devise a plan to stop these chaotic grades. And then, as I was thinking of an idea for an Academic Blog, it hit me; Planning."
The point I am trying to make about studying is that you must be careful with what you study, and make sure you do not study the wrong things. Studying is a very powerful thing, and it can strongly implant notions and idea's into your brain. This means that it can implant the correct answer's, but it can also implant the incorrect answer's. Studying is a slippery slope, and I think that if you aren't completely sure if your notes are correct or not, then do not study them until they are verified. Learn from my mistakes, and take this word of advice: Verify your notes.
